Rybník: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rybník lies in the heart of the Český les Protected Landscape Area. The surrounding area consists mainly of forests and pastureland. The blue-marked tourist route Rybník–Švarcava, just under 4 kilometres long, connects the Švarcava border crossing with Rybník, where it joins the red-marked tourist route.

Paths and Connections

The red-marked Baarova cesta is 7 kilometres long; the route there and back is 14 kilometres. The path from Rybník to the source of the Radbuza along the red marking is approximately 10 kilometres long in total. From Rybník, there is also a marked path to the most accessible source of the Radbuza.

In the surroundings of Rybník, hiking and cycling trails connect directly to comparable trails in the Bavarian part of the Český les.

Water and Landscape

The Radbuza rises in the Český les below Lysá at an elevation of 869 metres above sea level, near Rybník in the Domažlice District. The path from the car park behind Závist to the source of the Radbuza is 1.3 kilometres long and well marked.

A geographical detail can be found in Závist: House No. 17 stands directly on the European watershed. Water from the roof flows on one side towards the Nemanický potok, the Danube and the Black Sea, and on the other side towards the Radbuza, Berounka, Vltava, Elbe and North Sea.

Culture and History

Starý Herštejn is a castle ruin and an observation tower near Pivoň and Rybník in the Český les. An observation tower was built on Starý Herštejn in 2020. Near Rybník, the glassmaking Schürer family founded the first historically documented glassworks in the southern Český les.

Most of the abandoned villages in the Český les are located along local roads or marked hiking trails. The Pleš cemetery was respectfully restored by descendants of Germans between 1992 and 1994; during the restoration, the foundation walls of the cemetery church were uncovered.

Other Places

Other places at the same regional level include Kout Na Šumavě, Všeruby U Kdyně, Loučim, Trhanov, Čečovice, Únějovice, Ždánov and Vlkanov.
