Všekary: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The archaeological area at St. Barbara’s Church comprises a church, a mining complex, and a mine. The church is located approximately 1 km west of Všekary.

Culture and history

Mining traces dating from the end of the 19th century are known in the vicinity of St. Barbara’s Church and are associated with the Barbořin vrch mine; they may also date from earlier periods. The virtual exhibition “Galerie Sv. Barbory” can be visited.

In the village, the late Baroque Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands next to the former school of Všekary. It was built in the first half of the 18th century during the reign of Maria Theresa. The Chapel of Všekary formerly housed, among other things, a Gothic statue of the Madonna from the 15th century.

The area’s older history is also present in the immediate surroundings: In Všekary and the nearby area, burial mounds from the Middle and Late Bronze Age, featuring the typical cremation burial rite, have been preserved.

Landscape and trails

Traces of lead and zinc ore mining are still preserved in the forests around Všekary. The green-marked KČT hiking trail leads to Všekary and connects to a blue-marked trail leading to Hradišťany or Hradec u Stoda.

In the immediate vicinity of Všekary are Dvanáctka Hill [Honezovice-Hradišťany], Hora Hill [Staňkov-město], (Za Humny) Hill [Honezovice], and Hořina Hill [Holýšov]. In the wider regional surroundings of Všekary lies the church “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral”.
