Culture and Crafts

In Koloveč, the Volf family’s pottery workshop has been producing traditional folk ceramics since 1785 and is still in operation. The pottery craft has been passed down there from father to son for seven generations.

The church tower is 35 metres high, and inside the church there is an original sculpture of the Stations of the Cross. The liberation monument in the town centre was restored in 1990—only four metres from its original location.

History and Townscape

A major fire destroyed a total of 51 houses, the town hall, the school, and the church in Koloveč in 1729. The present town hall was rebuilt between 1826 and 1830 after the fire that destroyed the former town hall, and is used as a library and a clubroom.

The church was rebuilt in the Baroque style after the fire of 1729; reconstruction was completed in 1732.
