Geographical Location

Chocomyšl lies in the valley of the Merklínka stream. Part of the Chudenicko landscape monument zone extends along the southeastern edge of the administrative area of Chocomyšl. Public bus services operate in Chocomyšl.

Culture and History

The “Kuchyňka” hunting pavilion is a small work of garden and landscape architecture. The single-storey brick building, with a regular hexagonal floor plan, was built in 1825 as part of the Chudenice hunting landscape, serving as a resting place during walks and hunts and as an outdoor kitchen at hunting events.

A reconstructed statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1708, stands in Chocomyšl village square. The former Chocomyšl château was later used for agricultural purposes.

Local tradition connects the Kvapilova ponds with Jaroslav Kvapil’s libretto for the opera “Rusalka”.

Nature

A central park with a children’s playground by Chocomyšlský Pond can be used for a short break. Walks in nature are also mentioned as an opportunity for a short break in Chocomyšl. An avenue of oak trees runs along the pond dam.

Trails and Activities

The Žďár educational trail runs along both Kvapilova ponds. The approximately 55 km-long Chudenice cycling circuit passes through Chocomyšl and is intended for experienced cyclists.

Other places in the same administrative unit are Krchleby, Velký Malahov, Kout Na Šumavě, Pivon, Stankov, Pec, Horsovsky Tyn and Mezholezy.
