Bělá nad Radbuzou combines traces of Renaissance architecture, Baroque buildings and distinctive sites in the surrounding landscape.

Culture and History

Bělá Fortress was built around 1614 by Wolf Josef Lamingen von Albenreuth in the Renaissance style. The reconstructed fortress houses, among other things, an information centre. After it was no longer used as the manor lord’s residence, it was used as accommodation for administrative staff. Today, Bělá Fortress is protected as a cultural monument and has been declared a cultural monument by the Czech Ministry of Culture.

The Baroque Bridge crosses the Radbuza and was probably built between 1723 and 1725 based on the model of Prague’s Charles Bridge. It is decorated with six Baroque statues of saints and is used by pedestrians and cyclists.

The Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows dates back to a chapel built in Bělá in 1696–1697 and was later enlarged. After a fire in 1826, it was rebuilt and extended.

Near Bělá nad Radbuzou lie the Kocovy kameny, distinctive stone cultural monuments. The rocks consist of stone bearing inscriptions left by merry hunting parties.

Views and Landscape

The Pohořelec viewpoint is located on the hill of the same name at an altitude of 524 metres above sea level. It offers a view of the southwestern panorama of the border mountains, including the Ostrý and Velký Javor peaks in the Bohemian Forest, as well as Čerchov, Velký Zvon and Přimda.

From the town square in Bělá nad Radbuzou, the viewpoint can be reached in the direction of Bor; the final section follows a path through a meadow.

River Landscape and Trails

Bělá nad Radbuzou lies at the confluence of the Radbuza and the Bezděkovský potok. In the area around Bělá nad Radbuzou, cycle paths run through wooded terrain with almost untouched nature. The educational trail in Bělá nad Radbuzou leads through part of the picturesque landscape above the Radbuza valley.
