Valy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The cadastral area of Valy is home to the Meandry Struhy nature monument. It protects the naturally developing Struha stream, its riverside vegetation, the floodplain forest and the adjacent meadows as part of the natural Elbe landscape.

Nature

Meandry Struhy comprises the original meandering bed of the Struha stream and the woodland complex around the church in Lepějovice. In the mid-16th century, a relatively large pond system was established in the shallow valley of the Zlatý potok near Valy, comprising four large stocked ponds: Valský, Hluboký, Páral and Lepějovský.

History and Monuments

The early history of Valy is connected with the vanished settlement of Lepějovice, first mentioned in writing in 1167. Remains of the former Valy fortress have been preserved in House No. 15, whose outer walls contain remnants of the old structure.

The “Z pěti kanálů” bridge is a protected technical monument dating from 1845. The Church of the Archangel Michael has a massive square tower with seven storeys. Lepějovice Forester’s Lodge stands on the site of the vanished settlement of Lepějovice, southeast of Valy and approximately 100 metres southeast of the church in Lepějovice, as a detached building at the edge of the forest at a crossroads of farm tracks.

Things to Do

Near Valy u Přelouče, a green hiking trail leads to the former site of Lepějovice and continues along the meandering Struha stream. The route “Když se rodí krajina – Meandry Struhy” begins in the municipality of Valy u Přelouče.
