Rybitví: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In 1827, the cousins František Veverka, a farmer, and Václav Veverka, a blacksmith, completed their approximately three-year experiments with a new plough design in Rybitví. The local residents called it “ruchadlo”.

Culture and History

The ruchadlo was an agricultural ploughing device. It made it easier to regulate the ploughing depth, turned over the soil and loosened it.

Near the former smithy in Rybitví stands a monument to the first successful experiment with the ruchadlo: a bronze ruchadlo on a stone pedestal.

The history of its development continued outside Rybitví as well. In 1832, Jan Kainz, an official of the Choltice estate, exhibited the ruchadlo at an agricultural exhibition under the name “Kainz plough” as his own invention.

The birthplace of the Veverka cousins, “Rodný domek br. Veverkových”, is currently closed. A restoration project for the birthplace and its surroundings is currently being prepared, and a suitable option is being selected.

Getting Around

According to the timetable valid from 27 July 2026, DPMP route 33 connects Hlavní nádraží with Rybitví via Globus. DPMP route 3 connects the main railway station Hlavní nádraží with Rybitví and Lázně Bohdaneč.

A 3 km-long yellow-marked hiking route leads to Rybitví and ends at a public transport stop. The 52 km-long “Along the Opatovice Canal to the Horses” route is designated for road and trekking bikes; it lists the birthplace of the Veverka cousins in Rybitví as a place of interest.

Surroundings

The Church of St George is located in the immediate vicinity of Rybitví. The hill (Cihelna) [Pardubice-Opočínek] and the hill (Na Podbahní) [Pardubice-Ohrazenice] are also located nearby.

The mountains Bučina and Krkanka are located in the wider regional surroundings of Rybitví. Zámek Kačina Castle is also located in this wider regional area.
