Tetov was founded in 1791 by Jan Oktavián Kinský, who came from the Chlumec nad Cidlinou estate. The name Tetov derives from the names of the estate’s owners. Later, Tetov belonged to the municipal association of the political municipality of Kundratice; its separation was approved in 1937. The village’s history thus reflects both a specific founding context and a later municipal change.
The village square is home to a cross with a niche containing a statue of the Virgin Mary and a wooden bell tower. The cross represents a religious motif, while the bell tower is a distinct structure in its own right and forms part of the village’s appearance. Tetov also has a monument to President Masaryk and to residents who fell in the First and Second World Wars. The Hunting Lodge Ensemble on the Edge of the Forest
The small hunting lodge ensemble lies on the edge of the forest and consists of a single-storey, rectangular forester’s house and an elongated outbuilding with stables opposite it. The two buildings enclose a small courtyard. The complex can therefore be understood as a clearly arranged courtyard: the forester’s house and outbuilding face one another, with the courtyard between them. The typological classification describes the building type; its specific form is defined by the two differently shaped buildings and the courtyard.
The hunting lodge ensemble is considered an architecturally distinguished example of building development in eastern Bohemia and a typologically clear example from around 1920. For travellers interested in architecture, it combines an easy-to-understand building form with a regional context. The forests of Tetov attract hikers, cyclists and mushroom pickers. Another distinctive landscape feature is the boundary of a landscape conservation and heritage zone: it begins in Tetov on the south side of the road from Hlavečník to Tetov. The Kladruby Landscape Educational Trail also runs through the area around Tetov. It is approximately five kilometres long and has twelve stops.
