History and Village Character

The first mentions of Černá u Bohdanče date back to the 14th century. In 1377, Albert of Cimburk’s sale of the village to Opatovice Monastery was recorded. In 1588, a manorial land register listed milling as one of the trades practiced in Černá u Bohdanče.

In the center of Černá u Bohdanče stand a wooden bell tower, a stone cross, and a memorial to the fallen.

Water and Landscape

The 10 km cycling route 4041 leads from Lázně Bohdaneč via Černá u Bohdanče and Živanice to Mělice. The Cepl Mill on a struha dates back to the 17th century. Labiště pod Černou, a significant landscape feature, is located in the vicinity of Černá u Bohdanče.

Village Life and the Annual Cycle

Velká Černá is one of the Písníky near Černá u Bohdanče, which locals use for swimming in summer. Velká Černá is also used as a fishing area by the Přelouč local organization of the Czech Anglers Union. A traditional witch-burning bonfire was announced at the Velká Černá sand pit for April 30, 2026.
