Horní Roveň: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Horní Roveň is characterized by a distinctive ecclesiastical and rural architectural history. The present-day Church of Saint Catherine was built here in 1697–1699 on the site of a wooden church. The church complex in the center of the village is registered as an immovable cultural monument and was once a landmark of the village. The building ensemble includes the freestanding masonry bell tower with a pyramidal roof. It measures 6.90 × 7.20 meters and was built in 1799.
Culture and History
The vicarage of Horní Roveň is particularly illustrative: The single-story Baroque rural vicarage dates from 1717, was remodeled in the Neoclassical style in 1829–1830, and retains its original layout with a spacious entrance hall. At the same time, it is a valuable testimony to the development of rural vicarages in the 18th and 19th centuries.
South of the Church of Saint Catherine, a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary stands beside a field path; it is registered as a cultural monument. There is also the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas, a valuable small Baroque building from 1746. The farmstead protected under registration number 23943/6-2074 is likewise one of the village’s architecturally valuable landmarks: The enclosed agricultural complex comprises a former two-story granary from 1864 and a gate.
A historic inn with a cultural center has survived to this day in the former village center. The village’s history also includes the railway station established in Horní Roveň in 1899.
