Neratov: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Pernštejnskými rybníky educational trail route brings the aquatic landscape around Neratov to life along a clearly defined course. The approximately 9 km circular route runs mostly along unpaved paths, with about 200 m along a forest trail and 1.5 km along a road.

Aquatic Landscape and Paths

The route follows ponds dating from the 15th and 20th centuries and crosses their dams. Along the way, it explains how sophisticated water-management structures served fish farmers over the centuries. In this way, the trail connects the tangible landscape with the history of pond farming.

History by the Water

Another historic waterway is the Opatovický kanál. It was built from 1498 to 1521 to supply the network of fishponds originally established by Vilém z Pernštejna. The 32.69 km-long canal is suitable for a simple full-day trip at a maximum speed of 5 km/h. The Opatovický kanál is also used for water tourism at difficulty level ZWB and for fishing in non-trout waters.

Culture and Landscape

There is a bell tower in the centre of Neratov. The Church of Svatý Jiří is located nearby. The Bohdanečská Alej k Neratovu is also one of the defining historic features: it is a significant landscape element (VKP) with historic and local connections to the Opatovický kanál.

The Nadýmač hill [Břehy] is located near Neratov. The Bílý kopec hill [Valy nad Labem] is also nearby. The wider regional surroundings of Neratov include Zámek Kačina Chateau, Krkanka Mountain and Bučina Mountain.

As an additional cipher game about fish, ponds and pond farming, there is Sumec na suchu. The game's circular route is less than four kilometres long and can be completed in approximately two hours.
