Nature

The Na Hradech Nature Reserve was designated on 17 February 1956 and covers 9.5189 hectares.

The signposted local cycling route 4274 runs through Žáravice. It connects Vápno, Žáravice, Vyšehněvice, the Rozhrna pond and Lázně Bohdaneč.

History and culture

Žáravice is home to archaeological remains of the medieval Hrada fortification, also known as Sušina.

The castle-site area of the fortification lies on the northeastern edge of the municipality above Švihov pond and is locally called “Na Hradech”. It features double ramparts and ditches; in the south, there are even triple ramparts, which are in places 8 to 10 metres high.

The open-air theatre in Žáravice was built in 1954 by local residents for their amateur theatre group. Numerous performances take place there during the summer.

Othello Park zoo is located at Žáravice 49, 533 16 Žáravice. At Othello Park, visitors can see Amur tigers, Arctic wolves, ocelots, lynxes and caracals.
