Selmice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Selmice lies on the right bank of the Elbe, and the entire cadastral area of the village forms part of the Kladrubské Polabí heritage zone.

Culture and History

The Františkov farm estate belongs to the village. The Františkov stable complex was built between 1828 and 1831 based on a design by Mauritz Jahn. Starý kštít, a remnant of the former Selmice stud farm, is also located in Selmice. The Church of St Lawrence is an architecturally valuable Neo-Gothic building.

Landscape

The area around Selmice is partly wooded; otherwise, meadows and fields shape the village. A 3.2 km-long tree-lined avenue in Selmice leads to the gate of the Františkov farm estate.

Things to Do

The stables in the Františkov area are currently used to raise young horses, including one-year-olds as well as two- and three-year-old horses. The National Stud Farm traditionally uses the Selmická Aleje to bring foals to the Františkov rearing station in Selmice. A metal pedestrian bridge also crosses the Elbe in Selmice and continues to serve its purpose to this day.
