The Opatovický Canal runs through Podůlšany and is protected as an immovable cultural monument. This protected canal includes a component at the bridge in Podůlšany; its canal bed often takes the form of natural river meanders.

Culture and History

The Church of Svatý Jiří is located in the vicinity of Podůlšany. The Neo-Renaissance Church of sv. Mikuláše in Podůlšany was completed in 1903. The present building replaced a wooden church of the same dedication dating from 1665; most of the interior furnishings of the former Church of sv. Mikuláše have been preserved. The church is only occasionally open during services.

The first written mention of Podůlšany, formerly also known as Podolšany, dates from 1142.
