Újezd U Chocně: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Two thirds of the cadastral area of Újezd u Chocně is covered by forests. Among these woodland areas, churches, and historic landmarks, there are several tangible traces of the village’s history.

Culture and History

The village is home to a filial church dedicated to Saint Vitus the Martyr, which formerly served as a parish church. A new Baroque stone church was built in 1748.

The lime-tree avenue from the Postolov estate towards Plchůvky was planted after 1578 and was called “Knížecí alej”. A monument to gendarmerie sergeant Karel Zwieger stands on the road to Dolní Jelení. This monument was reconstructed by Společenství Veteránů Policie ČR.

An iron cross called “U Chadimova kříže” was erected on the road to Choceň in 1886. In Postolov, a hydroelectric power station now stands on the site of a former water-turbine-powered mill and sawmill.

The Strýc mountain is located in the vicinity of Újezd u Chocně. Mount Řetová lies in the wider regional surroundings of Újezd u Chocně. The nearby area also includes Čertův dub Hill [Choceň] and (Radíkovec) Hill [Újezd u Chocně].

Cycling Route

The Formanská cycling route is 9 km long, has an elevation gain of 75 m, and is designated for mountain bikes, gravel bikes, cross bikes, trekking bikes, and children’s mountain bikes. It is mostly flat, with only gentle ascents and descents, and passes through a varied forest landscape.

The Formanská cycling route runs near Újezd u Chocně; from the route, you can turn towards the village.
