Lukavice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Lukavice lies in the valley of the stream of the same name and on the road connecting Žamberk and Letohrad. Until 1950, Letohrad was called Kyšperk. The town combines traces of several centuries with landscapes, viewpoints and activities between forest, water and railway tracks.
Culture and History
The Church of Saints Philip and James is first documented in the parish register of the Archdiocese of Prague from 1344–1350. Its present appearance was created through additions in 1639, 1705 and 1721; the tower was modified in 1878. The historic village setting also includes the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1865 and surrounded by six protected lime trees.
Another testimony to the past is the entrance gate of the original cemetery. It dates from 1699 and is made of coarse-grained sandstone. The „Muchova lípa“ is associated with Alfons Mucha’s painting „Přísaha Omladiny pod Slovanskou lípou“, in which the unusual growth of the once-mighty tree was artistically depicted.
Transport and Village Life
Lukavice v Čechách railway station is located on railway line 021 and is part of the integrated IREDO transport system. The station building or the passenger shelter at the station is accessible without barriers.
The museum in Lukavice offers tours outside the stated opening hours by prior arrangement. Sokolovna is a municipal venue for sporting, cultural and social events. Its tennis courts can be reserved.
Landscape and Views
Šafranice is a protected mixed forest with mighty oaks. Mechnáč Hill, located 1.5 km from the railway stop, offers views across the cadastral area of Lukavice and, in clear weather, of the Orlické Mountains.
A walk around the wooded Karlovice Hill offers views of the surrounding towns and up to eight church towers.
