Skořenice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Skořenice is home to historic buildings and small religious monuments; the Vysoké Mýto–Sudslava cycle route also passes through the village. The present Church of Saint Mary Magdalene is a building in the Neo-Romanesque style. Its foundation stone was laid on 19 October 1865, and construction was completed in 1867. Obecní hospoda Skořenice has a summer garden with a barbecue.

Culture and history

Among the architecturally valuable buildings of local significance in Skořenice is House No. 14. A stone column in the village has a capital, a stone cross in its upper section, and inscriptions on all four sides.

North of Skořenice there is a wayside shrine in the form of a brick pillar with an inserted wooden box. Skořenice is also home to a wayside shrine called „Boží muka ve Skořenicích“. The village also has a sandstone statue of Christ dating from 1784.

Strýc is a named geographical feature in the surroundings of Skořenice and is considered a mountain. The same applies to Řetová, a named geographical feature in the vicinity of the village. Podlán [Skořenice] is a named geographical feature in the immediate surroundings of Skořenice and is considered a hill. In the wider regional area is Velká Suchá, a named geographical feature considered a mountain.

Cycle route

The Vysoké Mýto–Sudslava cycle route passes through Skořenice. The route is 23 kilometres long and is described as moderately difficult. It is suitable for road bikes, cross and trekking bikes, as well as mountain bikes, and runs mostly along second- and third-class roads.
