Letohrad: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Letohrad combines a history of crafts, listed architecture and natural attractions. The listed Nový dvůr complex, dating from 1750, houses the Muzeum řemesel. It comprises 89 interconnected exhibitions on crafts and trades from the period between 1840 and 1930.

Culture

Letohrad's urban heritage zone dates back to the early 16th century and comprises an elongated rectangular square with preserved arcades. It includes the Baroque Church of Saint Wenceslas, with unique stucco decoration in its interior.

Kopeček is home to the pentagonal Baroque pilgrimage chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, built in 1734. Its architecture is reminiscent of the Church of Saint John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora in Žďár nad Sázavou. The chapel remains a living pilgrimage site.

Nature

The Bažantnice–Obora educational trail begins on the northern edge of Letohrad at the entrance to the Letohradská bažantnice natural monument. It is marked, moderately challenging and has eight stations. Along the way, it presents the history and present of forest management, historical connections, the area's natural features, local flora and fauna, hunting topics, local legends and water management.

The starting point of the Bažantnice–Obora educational trail can be reached in Letohrad by bus and train. Letohrad is also one of only two natural sites of the strictly protected Kandík psí zub in the Czech Republic, and at the same time its northernmost site in the Czech Republic.

Experiences

The restored orangery in Letohrad Castle's park houses a permanent exhibition of Australian parrots. It also contains a seawater aquarium with colourful corals and fish.

The educational garden in Letohrad Castle's park offers interactive features, including a dendrophone on which visitors can try out the different sounds of various types of wood.

The “Kouzelný les – fauna České republiky” experience at Tvrz Orlice includes stuffed animals, a natural area and information about wildlife.
