Vinary: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vinary combines cultural history with landscape and tradition. The Kalvárie sandstone group has a base dating from 1832, is designated as a cultural monument, and was built to protect the village.

Culture and History

The Boží muka wayside shrine is protected; this protection also covers the surrounding area and its visual impact on the village. The original log cabin No. 27 dates from the first half of the 17th century.

Vinary was once known for its opuka quarries. The former opuka quarries provided work for numerous local stonemasons for several decades and supplied building materials for the surrounding area.

Traditions and Events

The Vodění Jidáše tradition was added to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Czech Republic in 2012. The Vodění Jidáše procession passes through the entire village of Vinary. In addition, Vinary hosts the fire brigade attack competition for the Vinarský pohár traveling trophy in several editions.

Nature and Landscape

Bětník is a near-natural deciduous forest in Vinary. There is a cave in the Bětník area; the area is also designated as a site of European importance.

The Za humny opuka slopes are among the two significant landscape-forming features of Vinary. Rare thermophilic flora grows on the slopes.

Transport Location

A Class II road from Jaroslav to Luže and Skuteč runs through Vinary. Less than 3 km northwest of Vinary, there is an interchange with the D35 motorway.
