Verměřovice is closely connected with the Tichá Orlice River: the river runs through the village and serves as a biocorridor. The Orlice Nature Park was designated along the Tichá Orlice in 1996.
Nature and Landscape
The Sutice Nature Reserve comprises calcicolous beech forests with the lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus). Neither marked hiking trails nor an educational trail lead to the nature reserve.
In the wider regional surroundings of Verměřovice are the named mountains Buková hora, Suchý vrch, Zámecká hora and Lazek.
Culture and History
In the upper part of Verměřovice, the stone bridge crosses the Tichá Orlice River. It is a technical monument dating from 1895, 29 metres long and 4 metres wide.
The Church of St John the Baptist in Verměřovice was built in 1901 on the site of an 18th-century chapel.
Szczerba – Ruiny zanku is a named attraction in the wider regional surroundings of Verměřovice and is considered a castle. Nový Hrad, a named ruin, is also located in these wider regional surroundings.
Cycling Connections and Railway
Cycle route No. 4361 runs through Verměřovice and leads from Letohrad via Jablonné nad Orlicí, Těchonín, Lichkov and Králíky to Dolní Morava. Route 4253 also runs through Verměřovice and connects Čenkovice, Bystřec, Petrovice, Dolní Čermná, Horní Čermná, Výprachtice, Horní Heřmanice and Valteřice.
Verměřovice also has a stop on ČD railway line 024 between Ústí nad Orlicí and Hanušovice.
