Vraclav: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Historical sites in Vraclav include the Baroque complex with the Church of St. Nicholas and the Vraclav hillfort. The Church of St. Nicholas is a Baroque cultural monument dating from 1724–1726 and the dominant building in the Baroque complex. The Vraclav hillfort is a prehistoric and early medieval fortified settlement. As late as the first half of the 13th century, it served as an administrative centre. It is also a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I; remains of a defensive rampart are visible at the hillfort.

Culture

At the Baroque complex, visitors can admire the unique collection of Baroque sculptures in the Church of St. Nicholas. An exhibition of Baroque polychrome-painted wooden sculptures is also on display there. Visitors can also tour the hermit's dwelling. Another exhibition is dedicated to Vraclav's rich history.

History

Fráterka is a wooden hermitage dating from 1692. It stands on the slope between the former spa building and the church. The hermit of Fráterka collected and dried herbs there.

Vraclav developed in the outer bailey area of the Přemyslid wooden castle of Vratislav, which protected the so-called Trstenická stezka route. A monument from 1908 commemorates the murder of leading members of the Vršovci family in Vraclav in 1108.

Getting Around

The spiritual circular trail C leads from Vysoké Mýto through Vraclav and back. It is just under 20 kilometres long and includes nine sandstone panels.

Visitors can draw water at any time from the hermit's jug at the well on the main road.
