Voděrady combines rural cultural heritage with historical traces and connections to the landscape in the surrounding area and further afield.

Culture and History

The rural dwelling house No. 10 in Voděrady is designated as a cultural monument. It combines a residential section built using log construction with an agricultural section made of stone masonry. The house also contains a bread oven with a covered porch and timber framework.

The Jan Augusta Monument in Džbánov commemorates the capture of Bishop Jan Augusta in the forests above Džbánov on 25 April 1548. At the monument, tourists have access to an information board, a map, and covered seating.

The former so-called “černá stezka” is also one of the area’s historical traces: it ran along an older forest clearing near Voděrady and was used mainly by smugglers.

Nature and Landscape

When the weather is sufficiently damp, the small woods surrounding Voděrady are ideal for mushroom picking.

The eastern side of Džbánov is lined with spruce and mixed forests rich in flora and fauna. From Džbánov, there are views to the west of the East Elbe Plain, the Iron Mountains, and the Žďárské vrchy.

The named landscape feature Řetová, a mountain, lies in the immediate vicinity. The named landscape features Džbánovská velká strana [Voděrady u Českých Heřmanic] and Na Dubině [Tisová u Vysokého Mýta], both hills, are also located nearby. Further away in the region lies the named landscape feature Jarošov, a mountain.
