Brandýs Nad Orlicí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Brandýs nad Orlicí displays its historic character particularly clearly in the town centre: the urban conservation area encompasses the historic centre as well as the castle ruins, the chateau, the church and the Sokolovna as important buildings. At the same time, the original urban layout has been preserved. Several timber-framed small-town houses from the 19th century stand northeast of the square.

Culture and History

The Sokolovna Brandýs nad Orlicí is a protected cultural monument. It is housed in a representative urban villa dating from 1890, which was converted in 1925 into a Sokolovna with a theatre stage in the Romantic Historicist style. The Sokolovna Brandýs nad Orlicí remains closed.

The origins of Brandýs nad Orlicí Castle date back to the last quarter of the 13th century. A fragment of masonry has survived; it has been structurally secured and preserved for future generations.

Jan Amos Comenius is also closely associated with the town. His monument stands on a forest path to Klopoty near the swimming pool. The Jan Amos Comenius Memorial Hall is located in the town hall of Brandýs nad Orlicí. In 1623, he completed the work “Labyrint světa a ráj srdce” here. In addition, a casket containing soil from the grave of Jan Amos Comenius in Naarden is located beside the entrance to the Evangelical Church of Brandýs nad Orlicí.

Nature and Trails

The route is suitable for cycling, inline skating and walking. The Oucmanice educational trail runs through the Orlice Nature Park between Brandýs nad Orlicí and Oucmanice.

Nature Labyrinth

The nature labyrinth is accessible without barriers and has a square layout measuring 35 × 35 metres. The visiting season for the public begins around 1 May and ends on the last weekend of September.
