Bystřec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bystřec is located in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains near Jablonné nad Orlicí. In the southern part of the Orlické Mountains, the village lies in a deep valley of the stream of the same name, west of Buková hora.

Church and Local History

A prominent landmark of Bystřec is the Church of St James. The present masonry church replaced a wooden church in 1828 and was consecrated on 17 October 1830. It contains a bell dating from 1585 bearing the coat of arms of the Perštýn family.

Routes and Orientation

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Bystřec. One travel description recommended taking the train to Jablonné nad Orlicí on railway line No. 024. From the station, the route continued on foot along the red-marked hiking trail to the square, approximately 0.5 kilometres away, and then along the blue-marked route towards Bystřec, approximately 3 kilometres away. There is a bus stop in the centre of Bystřec.

Routes and Events

As part of Bystřecké kilometry, the programme included a 15-kilometre IVV route called “Okolím obce Bystřec”. For the Bystřecké kilometry event, hiking routes of 6, 15, 27, 35, 42 and 50 kilometres were offered.

By the Water

The former castle moat in Bystřec was cleaned from 1964 to 1966. A water basin was created there and serves as a natural circular open-air swimming pool with an island; the local name “Na hradě” has been retained there to this day. The traditional Benátská noc took place in the open-air swimming pool area on Saturday, 2 August 2025.
