Svatý Jiří: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The first written record of Svatý Jiří dates back to 1199. The Church of Saint George is the focal point and is considered the dominant landmark of Svatý Jiří.

History and townscape

The Church of Saint George was built in the Romanesque style at the end of the 12th century and later remodelled in the Baroque style. The historic centre of Svatý Jiří is registered as an area with archaeological finds.

Svatý Jiří is located 9 km northeast of Vysoké Mýto.

A reservation system is available for the multi-purpose sports field in Svatý Jiří. The O pohár obce Svatý Jiří competition takes place at the Pod Borovicí grounds. The O pohár obce Svatý Jiří firefighting competition has been held for children and young people since 1992. O pohár obce Svatý Jiří takes place over two days, from Friday to Saturday, with firefighting disciplines according to the rules of the Plamen game; the programme also includes an evening children’s disco.

The firefighting water reservoir in Svatý Jiří may be used for swimming by local residents.
