Džbánov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The signposted Vysoké Mýto–Nové Hrady cycle route runs through Džbánov via Javorník and continues to Knířov and Vysoké Mýto. The route is approximately ten kilometres long and moderately difficult; on a large part of it, descents and climbs alternate.

History

Džbánov was founded around the middle of the 13th century, with the first “official” mentions dating from 1292. The name of the village also tells the story of its development: Čban first became Čbánov and finally the present-day name Džbánov.

In the 14th century, Džbánov and its surrounding area belonged to Zbraslav Monastery. The old Bohemian noble family Džbánovští ze Džbánova also originated from the village. Its coat of arms featured a red shield with two crossed swords, their grips pointing upwards; the crest consisted of three silver ostrich feathers.

Landscape

The public green spaces are located mainly in the central area of Džbánov around a body of water. Numerous mature solitary trees form part of the streetscape. On the outskirts of the village, gardens and designated green spaces form the transition between the built-up settlement and the open countryside.

Mobility

The bus service operated by ČSAD Ústí nad Orlicí, a.s., on route 700908 connects Vysoké Mýto, Džbánov, Bučina, Příluka and Nové Hrady. The Džbánov u Vysokého Mýta stop is located on ČD railway line No. 016 between Choceň and Litomyšl and is approximately 1.4 kilometres from the village centre.

Everyday Life and Culture

The Džbánov Municipal Library has more than 1,000 books. Through interlibrary loan, thousands of additional volumes from the Vysoké Mýto City Library are also available; the library offers free internet access.
