Pastviny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pastviny is located in the Mladkov Highlands, the lowest part of the Eagle Mountains.

Nature

The memorial lime trees known as the Vejdovy lime trees stand in Pastviny near the U Vejdů farmstead. One of the Vejdovy lime trees is estimated to be 850 years old.

Routes

The Green Route begins at the Pastviny Tourist Information Centre. It runs entirely along paved roads through a recreational area with increased motor vehicle traffic; where it runs parallel to a hiking trail, pedestrians have priority. Through the Zemská brána area and its surroundings, the Green Route is a moderately difficult cycling route.

History

The first historical mention of Pastviny, formerly Pastwinie, dates from 1514. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Pastviny was erected on 26 May 1818 at the expense of Jan Hovad. The bell tower at the lower end of Pastviny was probably built between 1780 and 1790 and was completely reconstructed in 2010.

Buildings

The Pastviny Dam is the last dam built of stone in the Czech Republic. The Kraví skok iron bridge in Pastviny was built over the Divoká Orlice in 1905 and moved to its present location above Bublačka Bay before the valley was flooded. The reinforced-concrete viaduct in Pastviny is a Class I road bridge with two arch openings, each with a clear span of 50 metres.

The Pastviny Tourist Information Centre provides advice on tourism, accommodation, dining and timetables, and sells souvenirs, postcards and small snacks.
