Velká Skrovnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Velká Skrovnice lies in a gentle valley at an altitude of about 415 metres. The Brodec stream rises below the slope, flows through a pond and continues towards Malé Lhoty.

History

The origins of present-day Velká Skrovnice date back to the 13th century; the first written record of Skrovnice dates from 1371. An even earlier period is represented by a stone axe hammer found in Velká Skrovnice, dating from around 3000 BC.

Villagescape

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Velká Skrovnice was built in 1912. A cemetery was established around it in 1934. By House No. 70 stands a statue of Saint Wenceslas, erected in 1870 and restored in 2019. The stone cross by House No. 19 was created in 1885 and gave the bus stop “U křížku” its name.

Another stone cross by House No. 8 dates from 1862, was re-erected in 1991 and most recently restored in 2019. The sandstone war memorial in Velká Skrovnice commemorates the fallen and missing citizens of the municipality with a stylized soldier figure and inscribed stone tablets. A new path made of sandstone stepping slabs leads to the monument, which was renovated in 2024.

The Oáza Centre has a filtered firefighting water reservoir measuring approximately 25 × 15 metres, where swimming is permitted at your own risk.
