Třebosice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the centre of Třebosice stands the complex of Kostel Povýšení sv. Kříže on the eastern bank of the Bylanka stream. It comprises a rural Gothic single-nave church dating from around 1290, a wooden polygonal bell tower, a rectory and a barn; a cycle of Gothic frescoes has been preserved inside the church.

Culture and History

The church’s mural programme in Třebosice depicts Saint Wenceslas, Saint Vitus, Saint Adalbert, Saint Procopius, Saint George and the martyrdom of Saint Erasmus. A preserved Romanesque baptismal font supports the assumption that a Romanesque chapel already stood here before the Gothic church. The Třebosický kancionál comprises 528 leaves.

The Třebosice bell tower is a tiered, octagonal wooden tower first mentioned in 1754; it may have been a later replacement building. It is one of the last typical symmetrical octagonal structures and is regarded as one of the most valuable examples of its kind in the Czech Republic. A bell cast in 1464 hangs in Třebosice’s wooden bell tower.

The Masopust tradition in Třebosice was successfully revived after almost fifty years. During Masopust, the procession of masked figures begins at the bell tower on the village square after receiving the mayor’s approval and then stops at every house.
