Janůvky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Janůvky, with a population of 40, lies in a valley beneath wooded slopes and the peaks of the Svitavská vrchovina highlands. The village is located southwest of Moravská Třebová and northwest of Jevíčko.

Landscape

The Prostřední hora hill is located in the vicinity of Janůvky. The Roh and Husák mountains are situated nearby, while Mount Drašarov lies in the wider regional area. The Janůvecké čihadlo forest stretches north of Janůvky.

History

Janůvky was founded during the German colonisation. The first written mention dates from 1365; the village’s affiliation with the Třebová estate is also documented for that year. In 1408, Janůvky was granted the right of reversion by the Lords of Kunštát.

Historically, the people of Janůvky made their living, among other things, from agriculture and worked in the putting-out textile industry. A one-class elementary school in Janůvky is documented for both 1880 and 1900. The former school building in Janůvky now serves as the municipal office. Janůvky is also part of the Křenov parish.

For 1904, a fund association is recorded in Janůvky for a chapel dedicated to Saint Gotthard and the seven holy plague patrons. The former bell tower of Janůvky stood farther west beside a shaft where fireclay was mined. The bell tower in Janůvky was built in 2013 as a replacement for the former bell tower, which had presumably already been destroyed during the Second World War.

Culture

From the mid-19th century until the beginning of the 20th century, brown coal, fireclay and slate were mined in the vicinity of Janůvky. In the wider regional area around Janůvky are the Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války memorial and the chapels Kaple Panny Marie, Kaple Panny Marie Lurdské and Kaple Božského srdce.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

A marked local cycling route runs through Janůvky. There is also a cycling tour called “Janůvky přes Peklo a Hřebeč”.

Between Janůvky and Rudná, the red-marked hiking trail branches off from the Hřebečský hřbet ridge. Another red-marked hiking trail runs along the edge of the Hřebečský hřbet ridge and crosses the road from Křenov to Pohledy.
