Rudná: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A marked red hiking trail runs through Rudná from Březová nad Svitavou railway station via Rudná to Hřebeč. The route is 19.14 km long and moderately difficult.

Trails and landscape

The long-distance Českomoravská stezka trail also runs along the elevated Hřebečovský hřbet ridge to Rudná, then descends from there into the Svitava Valley. Thus, two differently classified routes meet in Rudná: a marked moderately difficult hiking trail and a long-distance trail over the Hřebečovský hřbet ridge.

Local history and architectural heritage

The first mention of Horní Rudná appears in a Latin document dated 17 January 1365, which was entered in the Moravian land registers in Brno. The oldest surviving name, Rudnás, Ruden, is derived from “rudka”, meaning red clay.

The historic fire station in Dolní Rudná was built in 1925 and is one of the sights of the municipality of Rudná.

Chapel and symbols of the locality

There is a cross by the Chapel of Saint John and Saint Paul in Rudná. The chapel in Dolní Rudná, traditionally said to be dedicated to Saint John and Saint Paul, is adorned with seven 19th-century memorial crosses bearing the names of their donors.

Facilities near the locality

On the outskirts of Rudná, in the direction of the source of the Chrastovský potok, there is a multifunctional children's playground in a park-like area with benches. Rudná also has a football sports complex, which was used mainly for young people's sporting activities in summer; children's days were held there, and football and volleyball were played.

Along the Chrastovský potok there is a fire reservoir that is also used as an ice-skating rink and an outdoor swimming pool.
