Bohuňovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Bohuňovice combines a local history dating back to the late 12th century with the Church of Saint Procopius and distinctive landscape features along the Končinský stream. Historical traces, ecclesiastical tradition, and paths through the surrounding area create a diverse picture of the village.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Procopius was built in 1724 and renovated in 1818. Its interior is furnished in the Neo-Gothic style and contains paintings from the 19th century. Services are held there for the pilgrimage and the church fair.
The first written mention of Bohuňovice dates from the late 12th century; at that time, the village was called Bogunouice. In the 12th century, Bohuňovice belonged to Litomyšl Monastery before becoming the property of the Diocese of Litomyšl in 1347. Bohuňovice is considered one of the oldest villages in the region.
The local cemetery contains a shared grave of two Soviet prisoners who were killed during a death march in February 1945. Another connection to contemporary history arose on 10 May 2025: on that day, the 19th examination of pointing-dog facilities took place in Bohuňovice, at which the titles CACT and res. CACT were awarded.
Nature
Numerous rarer animal and plant species associated with wetlands and damp meadows occur along the Končinský stream. Bohuňovice is also located near the Velkonetřebský Pond.
Bouzovka Hill offers views of the Loučná Valley and towards Vysoké Mýto. Thus, both wet stream and meadow areas and elevated landscape points are among the named local features.
Paths and Local Features
Cycle Route 4231 runs from Sloupnice via Netřeby and Bohuňovice to Horky and is 7.5 kilometres long.
The Studánka ve Švábenicích spring is a drinking-water spring that has remained unchanged and easily accessible for several decades. It is located about five metres from a class III road between Cerekvice nad Loučnou and Bohuňovice.
