Pomezí: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pomezí combines a clearly recognizable rural village character with notable traces of ecclesiastical history. The village features the settlement pattern typical of the Vysočina region, known as a forest-strip village: freestanding farmsteads lie on both sides of the stream valley and the road.

Culture and History

The history of Pomezí includes St. George’s Church, which was mentioned in 1349 in connection with the Litoměřice Diocese; it was probably built in the Gothic style. It preserves Gothic architectural elements, while its interior features Baroque and, in particular, Rococo characteristics. A bell dating from 1511 hangs in the tower. Stone angel figures from 1870 stand at the entrance to the cemetery. St. George’s Church is a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The Chapel of Our Lady in Pomezí also has a precisely documented history: After a nearby fire in August 1924 damaged the chapel, it was repaired in the 1930s and consecrated on 12 September 1937.

Nature and Trails

In the surroundings of Pomezí, the forest chapel of Panna Maria Zázračná is located in Balda Forest. For cyclists, the signposted regional road cycling route 4023 runs through Balda, Pomezí, Květná and Čistá. Cycle route 4102 runs around the site of the former fortress in Pomezí, through an area used for agriculture.

Connections

Pomezí has a rail connection on the Svitavy–Polička–Skuteč line. There are also bus connections between Polička and Rohozná and between Polička and Svitavy.
