Tržek was first mentioned in 1145.

In the centre of Tržek stands the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which dates from the second half of the 19th century. The Carthusian monastery in Tržek was called “Domus Rubi” or “Rubus s Mariae” in Latin sources; these names are translated inconsistently as “Keř Panny Marie” and “Hájek Panny Marie”, respectively.

The complex of the automated mill in Tržek includes a building dating from 1871. The complex also includes a preserved predecessor building from the 18th century. Remains of older technical equipment have also been preserved there.

The Havranův kopec hill and the (Na Slínovatích) [Horky] hill are located in the immediate vicinity of Tržek. The Řetová mountain and the Jarošov mountain are also located around Tržek.

There is a stop in Tržek on ČD railway line 018 between Vysoké Mýto and Litomyšl. The Velký Kosíř birdwatching station can be reached from the centre of Tržek via a yellow-marked hiking trail of approximately 2.1 kilometres.
