In Trpín, sacred buildings, traces of historic routes and the landscape of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands come together.

Culture

The present-day Kostel sv. Václava Church was consecrated in 1689 and finally completed in 1720. The church houses an organ built in 1840 by František Svítil from Nové Město na Moravě. Next to the church stands a Baroque bell tower built using half-timbered construction. Concerts of sacred music are held annually in Kostel sv. Václava.

Majdalenka is the surviving presbytery of a former sacred site; the enclosing walls of the former nave have also been preserved. Since the 17th century, pilgrimages with markets have been held at Majdalenka in July.

History

The medieval Trstenická stezka ran approximately along the route of today’s Bystré–Trpín road and led via Ústup to Kunštát. The Boží muka wayside shrine above Trpín was built between 1730 and 1750 along the historic route. Remains of defensive ditches are still visible on the edge of the Horní les forest on the road to Hartmanice.

The Rychta in Trpín has always been an hereditary magistrate’s estate and still bears house number 1 today. The neighboring Hostejnice, also known as Hostenice, served as a resting and overnight place for horses, while carters stopped at the inn. At the site of U Šanců, also called Švédské šance, a monument was erected in the 20th century that came to be known by the nickname U Kamena. One of the interesting local events in Trpín was the felling of the maypole.
