Pohledy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pohledy combines designated landscape features, paths through the village, and notable historical landmarks. The defining natural features include the slopes to the northeast: they are protected as an important landscape feature and have characteristic steppe vegetation. Pastvina is also designated in Pohledy as a registered important landscape feature.

Nature and Paths

Two cycle paths run through Pohledy. A red-marked hiking trail also passes through the village. Alongside the protected slopes and the designated landscape of Pastvina, these paths therefore constitute distinct, clearly named elements of the village landscape.

Chapel and Local History

The Chapel of Saint Vitus stands in the centre of Pohledy on the main road. It was built in 1737 and entered on the state list of cultural monuments in 2003. A tall stone crucifix stands in front of the chapel. The building was also associated with the function of a community bell tower.

Pohledy and Horní Hynčina were founded around 1270 through the German colonisation organised by Bruno of Schauenburg, Bishop of Olomouc. In Horní Hynčina, the monument to the victims of the First World War commemorates the history of the village; it has stood near the Church of Saint Nicholas since 1921.

Church of Saint Nicholas in Horní Hynčina

Above Horní Hynčina stands the Church of Saint Nicholas, surrounded by a cemetery. The building was remodelled in 1759 from an originally Gothic structure. Its tower has four bells, including the largest, which dates from 1599. The church was entered on the list of cultural monuments in 1964. Services are held there regularly on Sundays and public holidays.

Písečná is also part of the recorded history of the immediate surroundings: the partisan group of Olex Borkaňuk was dropped on its summit on 21 January 1945.
