Březiny: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Březiny is surrounded by the hills of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Since 2015, the municipality has organized the Březinská padesátka here, a 50-kilometre running competition through the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.

Paths of discovery

Kukyho les is an approximately 1-kilometre-long educational trail in Březiny, designed as a circular route and aimed primarily at children. The educational trail has eight interactive stations, including water mills, a tilting map with a ball, Hergotův domeček and Hergotmobil.

The Březiny Literary Educational Trail leads from Bělisko to Drašarova lípa. Its five stations convey information about the Vysočina region, old crafts, and the work of the writer Terezie Nováková and the composer Bohuslav Martinů.

Culture and local history

Březiny’s traditional folk architecture includes simple, whitewashed cottages and farmsteads. The Chapel of Saint Roch stands in the centre of Březiny.

Various exhibitions of paintings and photographs are held in the former school building in Březiny during the summer. Pohádkový les is one of the regular events in Březiny. The regular programme also includes tournaments in nohejbal, floorball, volleyball and table tennis.

Historical traces

The Berkovna glassworks was built in Březiny in 1696. Around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the inhabitants of Březiny processed flax fibres into linen.

Natural features

Lunáčkova lípa is a more than 300-year-old small-leaved lime tree. It is 30.5 metres tall and has a trunk circumference of 602 centimetres. It can be reached via a green-marked hiking trail.

Local production

Sýry z Březin produces fresh and matured cheeses, yoghurt and quark from cow’s milk.
