Culture

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is located in Vidlatá Seč. It dates from the 17th century, while its present form dates from 1771. The chapel is considered a distinctive landmark of Vidlatá Seč. Services are held there on Tuesdays in even-numbered calendar weeks: at 5 p.m. in winter and at 6 p.m. in summer.

History and Remembrance

The historic Trstěnická Trail trade route once ran near Vidlatá Seč from Makov to Chotěnov. The village is also home to a memorial to the victims of the First World War. Under the heading “THEY DID NOT RETURN,” its inscription lists those who fell between 1914 and 1918.

The remembrance of František Famfulík is documented at two locations. The memorial plaque is located on the school building at Vidlatá Seč 56 and recalls that the gendarmerie sergeant, who came from Vidlatá Seč, was shot as a victim of Nazi violence on 8 July 1943 at the Kobylisy firing range. The cenotaph for František Famfulík stands in the cemetery of Vidlatá Seč; its inscription records that he was executed by Germans in Kobylisy on 8 July 1943.

Nature and Cycling Route

The marked “Smetana and Martinů Region” cycling route passes through Vidlatá Seč towards Jarošov and Dolní Újezd. The Toulovcovy Maštale nature reserve is also located in the vicinity of Vidlatá Seč, approximately 7 km away.
