Chvojenec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The water fortress in Chvojenec was first mentioned in 1336. It was founded during the royal colonization to protect the road leading from Hradec Králové to Vysoké Mýto; three moats and an embankment surrounded the site.

Culture

The Chapel of Saint Agnes of Bohemia was ceremonially opened on 28 September 2019. Its windows depict Saint Agnes of Bohemia and Saint Wenceslaus. The altar and the cross were made by local woodcarver Radek Kreizl.

Nature

The cadastral area of Chvojenec includes the Žernov Nature Reserve, with an oak-hornbeam forest on the slopes of Žernov Hill, as well as the Mordýř and Šmatlán ponds at its foot. The area around the ponds near Chvojenec is characterized by natural wetland and forest vegetation.

The Žernov Nature Reserve was established by Regulation 3/2015 of the Pardubice Region. This regulation has been in effect since 1 July 2015 and remains valid.

Cycling Trails

The marked cycling trails 4120 from Opatovice nad Labem to Dašice and 4236 from Vysoké Chvojno to Dolní Ředice run directly through Chvojenec. Cyclists can use two rest areas in Chvojenec with seating and an information board.

Sports and Events

Admission to the multifunctional sports field in Chvojenec is free; advance reservation is required. The field can be reserved for tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, or basketball.

The children's carnival, Setkání s Mikulášem, and Čarodějnice are among the regular and traditional events in Chvojenec.
