Zdechovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zdechovice is regarded as the gateway to the Železné hory. The village combines a distinctive church history with historic routes, memorial sites in the forests, and a landscape that also bears traces of iron mining.

Culture and History

The church in Zdechovice, dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul, still stands today and acquired its present appearance following a Baroque reconstruction in 1716. The historic Trstenická stezka route also passed through Zdechovice, where it divided into routes towards Sázava and Prague. There is also historical evidence of iron mining in Zdechovice.

Routes and Memorial Sites

The Svatojakubská cesta comes from Kladruby nad Labem to Zdechovice along a blue-marked hiking trail and continues from the Obří postele signpost along a green-marked trail towards Záboří nad Labem. Another blue-marked trail leads from Řečany nad Labem to Zdechovice; there is a signpost on the village square by the memorial to the fallen. The memorial sites in the forests of Zdechovice include Petrova šlápota and Obří postele. With only minor exceptions, the hiking trails in Zdechovice can generally also be used as cycling routes because of the gently rolling terrain.

Castle Park and Ponds

The castle in Zdechovice originally included grounds with a park, a fallow deer enclosure, and two ponds. The castle park in Zdechovice underwent extensive revitalisation in 2015.

Nature by the Water

In the surroundings of Zdechovice, Obří postele is an interesting natural rock formation made of stone pebbles that resembles large beds. Sport fishing is practised exclusively at Pilský Pond, which covers an area of 7 hectares.

Since 1 January 2008, a local information centre has been operating at the Zdechovice municipal office.
