Živanice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Živanice is documented as a parish church as early as 1350. It is a rural late Gothic church dating from the end of the 15th century, which was restored in 1866. The complex comprises a single-nave church, a tower next to the presbytery, a cemetery enclosure wall, and an entrance gate on the north side. The church also has a Renaissance porch; its tower was heightened in 1866 in the Historicist style.

Culture and traditions

Local customs are also part of Živanice’s cultural character. The local volunteer fire brigade organises a wine festival called Vinobraní. At the Staročeské Máje, maypoles are traditionally erected in front of the homes of unmarried girls.

Landscape and water

The Labiště pod Opočínkem natural monument comprises a dead arm of the Elbe with significant plant and animal communities. Its banks feature characteristic remnants of floodplain vegetation. Živanické jezero is an abandoned meander of the Elbe with adjacent meadows and riparian trees.
