Lipoltice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Lipoltice, an Early Gothic church, a historic fortress and prominent geological outcrops meet. The oldest building structure in the village is the Kostel sv. Matouše church, built around 1280.

Culture and History

The complex of the Kostel sv. Matouše church is enclosed by the oval wall of a former cemetery. It lies south of Lipoltice village centre on a gentle slope that descends towards the north and west. The complex is accessible through a gate on the western side.

The fortress in Lipoltice is also part of the village’s recorded history. It is first mentioned in 1486; in 1509 it is mentioned as still existing, and in 1544 it is described as abandoned.

Landscape and Geology

Lipoltická skála is a quartzite outcrop rising above the surrounding schists. The rock formation is located near Lipoltice at an elevation of 298 m above sea level.

The locality “Lipoltice – kambrium” is part of the geological classification. It is Geotope No. 10 of the Železné hory National Geopark. Alternating layers of grey quartz sandstones and grey to grey-black chlorite-sericite schists with graphite are exposed on site.

The geological locality “Lipoltice – kambrium” is freely accessible; by car, it can be reached to within 250 m.

Events

A large number of events take place in Lipoltice every year. Annual recurring events include balls, carnival, the witches’ bonfire, Children’s Day and the switching-on of the Christmas tree lights.
