Mährisch-Schönberg: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the centre of Šumperk lies the Pavlínin dvůr park complex. Muzeum Šumperk uses more than half of the buildings in the park complex; in 1971, Pavlínin dvůr was declared a cultural monument. Muzeum Šumperk also houses the permanent exhibition “Příroda a dějiny severozápadní Moravy”.

Culture

The Kostel Zvěstování Panny Marie church has an accessible crypt. It originally belonged to a Dominican monastery that, according to the order’s chronicle, was founded in 1293. The church also offers interactive family tours entitled “Tajemství klášterní lékárny”.

Since 1993, the Jiřího Jílka Gallery has hosted an individual artist’s exhibition every month. The gallery also houses a permanent exhibition of sculptures, paintings and drawings by Jiří Jílek.

Cityscape

The town hall tower in Šumperk offers views of the city and the Hrubý-Jeseník Mountains with Praděd. The viewing platform is 29 metres above the surrounding terrain; after taking the lift, visitors still have to climb 71 steps.

The Šumperk Information Centre offers guided, commentary city tours presenting important stages in the city’s history and significant monuments.

Trails and History

The Expozice Čarodějnické procesy exhibition uses an audio guide by guidePORT™, through which the voice of the inquisitor Jindřich František Boblig z Edelstadtu leads visitors. The Čarodějnická cyklotrasa cycle route passes through Šumperk and stops at Geschaderův dům.

The “Po stopách Malé Vídně” tour leads to noteworthy buildings from the period of Šumperk’s greatest prosperity in the late 19th century. The “Po stopách Malé Vídně” audio tour is available in Czech, Polish, German and English.

Water and Leisure

In its paddling pool, Aquacentrum Šumperk has a water cannon and a water curtain. The Aquacentrum also features a 97-metre-long water slide with a ride through a “black hole” and glowing, colourful rings.

The Bratrušák summer swimming complex has a children’s playground with a slide, swings and a carousel.

Events

Blues Alive has been held at Dům kultury Šumperk in Šumperk since it began in 1996.
