Kolšov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kolšov lies on the western side of a marginal branch of the Úsovská vrchovina highlands, in a basin between the Dlouhá, Markovice, Brabenečná and Horka hills. The basin opens northwards and westwards onto the plain in the Morava River valley.

Nature

Kolšov lies in a valley and is surrounded by forests on three sides. The Morava River, which is navigable from Postřelmov onwards, is about 2 km from Kolšov. One of the nearest significant cultural and historical monuments is the Brníčko Castle ruins, located about 3 km away.

Hiking

Hiking trails around Kolšov lead towards the Brníčko Castle ruins, the Cikánský buk beech tree and the Bradlo viewpoint. Kolšov is also used as a starting point for the trail to Markovice via the saddle near the neighbouring Dlouhá hill. This route offers, among other things, views of Sudkovský rybník and Bludov.

A green-marked hiking trail leads from Sudkov through Kolšov to Brníčko. At the summit of Markovice there is a fire pit, benches, a summit book and a signpost.

Cycling

A marked cycle route passes through Kolšov. It runs south towards Mohelnice and Litovel and north towards Hanušovice and Jeseník. The 19 km cycling excursion “Cyklo-výlet za poznáním historie” also passes through Kolšov.

SK Kolšov organises cycling races as part of the “Šumperský pohár horských kol” series.

Culture

The “Usedlost č. p. 2” estate in Kolšov is dated 1845 and is considered an example of vernacular Empire architecture from the first half of the 19th century. The Chapel of St Martin was built in 1820. Martinské hody is still celebrated in Kolšov today.

On 11 November 2022, Kolšov held an open day in the chapel dedicated to St Martin. The programme included information about the chapel’s history, recorded church music, light refreshments and fresh Saint Martin’s wine.
