History and Culture

The town tower of Mohelnice was built after 1322 and served as an observation post for the town guards. It has eight storeys; 36 stone spiral-stair steps and 136 wooden steps lead to its highest storey. The town tower is open to the public. Visits outside the stated opening hours can be arranged through the local tourist information centre.

The Muzeum Mohelnice is located in a former vicarage whose origins date back to the second half of the 13th century. The building was probably part of the vanished castle of Mohelnice. The museum has a permanent exhibition on the history of the Mohelnicko region.

The Mohelnický betlém was incorporated into the Roman Catholic parish of Mohelnice in 1962.
