Vikýřovice combines an illustrative history of technology with preserved architectural landmarks and signposted routes. The Muzeum silnic is located in the historic Krenišovský dvůr – a place where several facets of the region’s transport and everyday history come together.

Culture and history

The Muzeum silnic features the permanent exhibition “Z historie a současnosti našich silničních mostů” as well as a permanent exhibition on the life and work of the Klein brothers. The courtyard displays renovated road-maintenance machinery and a wooden statue of Saint Christopher.

The Renesanční tvrz has been preserved as a solid, single-storey building with arcades; its exterior walls are more than one metre thick. A fortress near Vikýřovice was recorded in 1591 in an inventory of the property belonging to the Losiny estate.

The Chapel of Saint Anthony also reflects several phases of construction: it was rebuilt in 1777 as a brick chapel in the Classicist style and was completely reconstructed in 2000–2001 following flood damage in 1997. The sandstone ensemble Sousoší Kalvárie has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since March 2007 and was reconstructed in 2024.

The Zámeček in Vikýřovice features interesting Neo-Renaissance architecture with elements of French architecture. The traditional Kácení máje takes place in the park near the Zámeček.

Trails and landscape

Vikýřovice lies on the left bank of the Desná River. A railway line runs east of Vikýřovice.

Several signposted routes pass through the village: the Nedvězí–Kladské Sedlo cycle route runs through Vikýřovice, as does the Šumperk–Skřítek–Velké Losiny–Šumperk cycle route. The 14 km-long Šumperk–Anenský Dvůr–Vikýřovice–Šumperk hiking route also passes through Vikýřovice. In winter, the 20 km-long Skřítek–Rabštejn–Hvězda–Traťovka–Vikýřovice cross-country skiing route leads to Vikýřovice.

Events and sport

The annual Svatohubertská pouť in the Desná Valley includes a second part of the programme at the sports and social centre in Vikýřovice. The village has a football pitch, a gymnasium and a multi-purpose sports field.
