Culture and History

The Dalimil Lookout Tower is a stone observation tower on the summit of Větrov and a faithful replica of the historic Kaiser Wilhelm Tower. The original stood on Sněžník from 1899 to 1973.

The Chapel of Saint Christopher was built in 2009 next to the Paprsek Mountain Hotel as a replacement for a chapel demolished in Velké Vrbno. On 26 September 2009, it was consecrated together with a bell dating from 1925 from the sunken settlement of Grund Messinghammer. The chapel is located in the immediate vicinity of the Paprsek Mountain Hotel, which lies at the transition between Hrubý Jeseník, the Rychlebské Mountains and Králický Sněžník.

Paprsek Mountain Hut was built in 1932 in the cadastral area of Velké Vrbno and was originally named “Slezský Dům” (Silesian House).

Winter and Cross-Country Skiing

A chairlift takes visitors up to Paprsek Mountain Hut. The Paprsek-Olšanka “Kaskáda” snow park in Velké Vrbno offers a total of 4.5 km of ski slopes, which are groomed with a piste basher, as well as evening skiing. The Milíře cross-country skiing circuit includes the Velké Vrbno lift station. The operator of Paprsek Mountain Hut regularly grooms around 30 km of cross-country ski trails.

Hiking

The yellow-marked trail leads through Velké Vrbno to the Medvědí rokle valley. Three marked hiking trails meet near Paprsek Mountain Hut. The Dalimil Lookout Tower can only be reached on foot; from the car park in Velké Vrbno at the lift’s lower station to Paprsek, it is another 1.5 km on foot.
