Culture and History

The first written mention of Mírov Castle dates back to 1266. In Mírov, there is a memorial to the victims of National Socialism on the site of a former prison cemetery; it was created in 1967. A memorial to political prisoners stands in the park opposite the entrance to Mírov Castle. In addition, the column with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows was declared an immovable cultural monument in 2007.

Townscape

The Mírov castle complex currently serves as a prison; Mírov Prison, with heightened security measures, is located in Mírov Castle. The castle complex is not open to the public.

The viewpoint overlooking Mírov Castle is a wooden pavilion on a meadow below the forest and offers a view of the castle. North of Mírov Castle, above the town, there is a viewpoint with a pavilion.

Trails and Leisure

The educational trail in the forest around Mírov Castle is suitable for walks for all age groups. Information panels provide details about the municipality, the castle, local legends, and the local flora.

Mírov can be reached by car and bus. A newly built cycle path leads there by bicycle; on foot, you can reach the town along the Mírovka River. The swimming pool in Mírov has a concrete basin supplied with water from a stream.
