Culture and History

Olomouc Town Hall dominates the Upper Square (Horní náměstí) and has served for more than six centuries as a symbol of the economic, cultural and political significance of the former royal capital of Moravia. The Gothic Chapel of St. Jerome is located in the town hall; its rib vault is the oldest vault of the so-called Danubian type in the Czech Republic. The former Bishop's Palace is now part of the guided tour of the Archbishop's Museum.

Nature and Wildlife

From Olomouc city centre, cyclists can follow the Moravian Route along the Morava River towards Litovelské Pomoraví. In the vicinity of Olomouc, Litovelské Pomoraví is considered a protected nature park with a flat route suitable for families with children.

Olomouc Zoo is located on Svatý Kopeček and is home to around 300 animal species. Its attractions include marine aquariums with blacktip reef sharks, piranhas and coral fish.

Olomouc Tvarůžky

The Olomoucké Tvarůžky Festival takes place every April in the centre of Olomouc as an open-air food festival. The programme includes cultural experiences on two stages, creative workshops and a demonstration of the traditional production of Tvarůžky.
