Svésedlice combines a historically distinctive village character with waterways, small bodies of water and local events. Written sources first mention the village in 1370.

Village Character and History

The settlement structure of Svésedlice is characteristic of the Haná region and takes the form of a circular village. The history of the village also includes its former affiliation with the Olomouc Chapter: from 1389 until the abolition of serfdom in 1848, Svésedlice was owned by the chapter. One notable historical figure is Ludmila Zatloukalová-Coufalová, who in 1931 became the first woman in Moravia to head a municipality.

Chapel and Village Green

The Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Thomas was built in 1902 on the site of a former wooden bell tower. The historically valuable centre around the village green is considered a spatially and functionally stabilised part of the built-up area. The central public space of Svésedlice, with its chapel, the cross of Saint Thomas and Saint Francis, and high-quality park landscaping, is to be protected. In front of the former school there is also a reconciliation cross dating from 1547, considered the oldest monument in Svésedlice.

Water and Landscape

The Beroňka watercourse runs through the built-up area of Svésedlice, while the Týnečka stream flows through the southern part of the municipality. A reservoir lies on the Beroňka north of the built-up area. South of the village, downstream, there is a pond on the Týnečka.

Sport and Exercise

Svésedlice offers a football pitch and a nohejbal court for sporting activities. The village also hosted for the first time a memorial event dedicated to hiking and cycling. The “Ludmila Zatloukalová–Coufalová Memorial” was intended to take place annually in the future.

Local Programme

Tourists can refresh themselves at a local restaurant in Svésedlice. The municipal cultural programme features the “Green Thursday – Mackerel” event several times.
